The Building Inspector is responsible for the inspection of commercial and residential buildings including:

• Structural elements
• Plumbing
• Heating and cooling
• Electrical systems
• Safety and Health

Other responsibilities of the Department include:

• Issuing building, excavation and demolition permits
• Checking plans
• Inspecting residential property for occupancy
• Inspecting housing complaints

• Maintaining special inspection reports
